The only real issue with the watch is that the white watch face has an orange stain covering the center of the face. The watch crystal appears to be original and does have a small crack in it. The watch runs smoothly, and appears to keep good time, though it is important to remember that the specification for wrist watches in WWII could be off by several seconds a day. ![]() The metal components are nice, with minimal scratches or dings. ![]() The list includes pocket, wrist, and stop watches. In 1940, the Ordnance Department published the requirements for military watches. The Army serial number is 36345, which places production around 1944-45 based on past watches we have sold.ĭuring WWII, Waltham supplied watches for the US Army, Navy, and Marine Corps. The band is a correct, period made sheet steel strap. It has the name WALTHAM on the dial face. It was manufactured for the US Army, and has a white face with radium luminous numbers for night use. This wonderful example has been fully cleaned, tested and runs perfectly.
